The Language Learning Center is hosting the semiannual Teaching with Technology Forum.
Come and share ideas and experiences using technology in teaching.
Date: Wednesday, December 16th, 2009
Time: 1:30pm ~3:00pm
Place: Language Learning Center, Stokes 205
The presentations will include:
Kimiko Suzuki, Visiting Lecturer of Japanese, “Creating Narrated Tours in Google Earth”
Google Earth can bring authentic materials to foreign language classrooms. Students can “fly” anywhere in the world and find out what locations look like. With Google Earth 5, you can create a narrated tour. I will share some of the students’ projects and ideas for using Google Earth.
Duane Kight, Assistant Professor of French, “Using Elluminate as a presentation tool.”
Elluminate is a web-based videoconferencing system that integrates a variety of communication channels and interactive activities including multipoint audio and video, group and private chat, shared and interactive whiteboard, file transfer (between users), and session recording and online playback. There are a lot of ways to use Elluminate. You can use Elluminate to have an office hour or make-up class, invite speakers to your class from anywhere in the world, or have a meeting with your colleagues. I will do a demo of Elluminate and discuss the use of the program for teaching.
Join us for enrichment, discussion, and the chance to see what your colleagues are doing with technology.
