iPads, Panopto, and Styli – Better Living Through CooperationPresenter: Mark Schofield, Visiting Associate Professor of Chemistry, Haverford College This semester Mark Schofield has been using Panopto in concert with his iPad to capture lectures for an advanced laboratory course. The “product” of each lecture includes a video–posted on his Moodle course page–of the presentation for students who want to review it, along with a pdf of the finished product generated using Notability. This system has advantages for both Mark and his students. He can capture an example improvised on-the-spot for revision and incorporation into future lectures. Students can review how he derived a particular expression or how numerical data collected during an experiment might be transformed into “results.” In this presentation, Mark will demonstrate some of the ways that he has used this technology in his teaching.

iPads in the ClassroomPresenter: Ken Koltun-Fromm, Professor of Religion, Haverford College Ken Koltun-Fromm has several iPads scattered around his classroom which his students can pick up and use, as needed. He wants his students to become more literate in digital humanities, while critically assessing technology as a medium. Ken will talk about how he and his students use those classroom iPads to generate course content, and how this can help create active learners among students. |
