New for F16/S17 — Moodle 3.0
On Tuesday, May 31, we launched our new Moodle instance for the Fall 2016/Spring 2017 academic year. Courses for the Fall 2015/Spring 2016 year are still available on moodlef15-s16.haverford.edu.
The new Moodle system is fairly similar the one used last year. The biggest change is for Bryn Mawr users. Bryn Mawr users now log directly into moodle.haverford.edu using their Bryn Mawr user credentials.
In addition to that change for Bryn Mawr users, we have some updates that everyone will be able to appreciate. We will run a new Moodle version–Moodle 3.0–that offers a number of small, but helpful improvements from our current Moodle 2.8 version.
-
Better mobile support, including apps for Apple iOS, Google Android and Windows Mobile/Phone.
-
Better course editing, including the option to link to a topic or week as well as to delete a topic or week.
-
Track student progress with a new Progress Report block.
-
New editor options, including better support for tables.
-
Many new quiz options for style and layout, as well as quiz question types.
-
New overview report for grades lists student grades all in one place.
-
A leader board tool, so students can see the highest scores on any Moodle activity
Note that Haverford users will continue to access the Bryn Mawr Moodle system as they do now; first log into our moodle.haverford.edu system and then click on the link to Bryn Mawr’s Moodle server from your Moodle home page.
