In addition to the Acceptable Use Policy that governs all use of the Haverford College network, the following rules pertain to users of the Haverford VPN service.
- VPN users are subject to the same security risks, such as getting and spreading computer viruses, as any other network user. If you wish to connect to Haverford’s network you must follow the same security precautions as on-campus network users, including the use of anti-virus software on your computer and making sure your computer’s software is up to date.
- VPN is primarily intended to provide faculty, staff, and students access to restricted resources, internal servers and local storage for college-related work. Contact the IITS ProDesk for more information.
- Please remember that your off-campus Haverford VPN account is for your personal use only. Your children and other family members or friends should not be given access to your account.
- Because off-campus use of VPN software is complicated by a number of factors, including the nature of your network configuration, the type of service provided to you by your broadband service provider, and personal software packages you may have installed, we cannot guarantee that your computer will work with VPN. We will, however, make a reasonable effort to help you use VPN software. In many cases, we may need you to bring your computer to the ProDesk to best assist you. Please make sure you have adequate backups of all important data before bringing in your computer.
