For Full Time Faculty and Staff

IITS provides college-issued computers for full-time permanent faculty and staff positions at the College.  In addition to hardware, members of the faculty and staff have access to college-owned software for use on college-issued computers and certain software is also available for use on personally owned computers while you are employed at the College.

For Students, Visiting Faculty and Temporary Staff

IITS makes hardware recommendations twice a year.  These recommendations apply uniformly to personally owned  computers as well as college-owned computers.  When making a purchasing decision it’s important to follow the minimum standards set out in our Supported Hardware Recommendations.

IITS will provide limited software support on personally owned computers that are used by students or by visiting faculty and temporary staff to perform the business of the College.

Although we do not perform hardware repairs on computers that do not belong to Haverford College, we can also provide some assistance arranging for needed hardware repairs on personally owned computers for students, visiting faculty and temporary staff.

Please note that the costs of repairs on a personally owned computer must be covered by the owner of the computer.

Additional Resources for Visiting Faculty

Visiting Faculty Members are encouraged to bring their own computers to campus; however, in order to receive support from the IITS Prodesk, all computers must meet our Supported Hardware Recommendations when they were purchased and in any case may not be more than four years old.

Personal computers brought to campus must have our Kaspersky Antivirus software installed.  Download instructions are available on our website (an activated Haverford email account is required for download).  Visiting Faculty Members with computers that meet these requirements may schedule an appointment with the ProDesk to configure their computer for printing.  Appointments can be scheduled online or by calling the ProDesk at 610-896-1480.

Although the College does not provide computers for visiting faculty we do have a limited number of previously used desktop computers available for semester or academic year loans.  Visiting faculty who do not have a computer to bring to campus may request a computer from our pool of previously used desktop computers for the duration of their appointment.  To make a request please complete our online application.  Mac and Windows computers are typically available but quantities are limited and requests are fulfilled based on availability.  Please allow three (3) weeks for your request to be fulfilled.  The IITS ProDesk will contact you when your computer is ready.
